What is "Tales from the Trenches"?

I have been thinking about this particular sub-section of my blog for some time, now. I have decided to title this sub-section "Tales from the Trenches". This section is just what the title implies: each of these posts is a stand-alone writing based on my first-hand experience as a 38-year-old (aka "young") widow. I have these pieces of information in a document form that I happily pass along to anyone who asks me for advice or hints to help a new member of the club. The "club" I am referring to is the "Widow Club". It is the club of which no one wants to be a member, however, the community and solidarity within it is amazing. We have to be there for each other because, frankly, the United States of America is not set up to support young widows. So, we help each other.

"Tales from the Trenches" is informational, only. I am not a lawyer, expert, or authority. I am a woman who has lived through everyone's "worst nightmare", and, through the help and support of other widows, the help and support of my village, and, most importantly, the support and care of my God, survived (mostly) in one piece. My hope and prayer is that this can become a vehicle for support and information for anyone finding themselves a member of the worst club of all time. Please, if you know of someone going through this widow journey, share these posts. Contact me and connect me with the person. Contact me and ask me specific questions. There is no question too silly or weird (there are stupid questions, but I promise I won't actually tell you that your question is stupid). This is part of my ministry: to support the widows and orphans who find themselves in a shattered world that makes no sense.

"Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for every and ever. AMEN" - Hebrews 13:20-21 (emphasis mine)
